Cherry blossoms in full bloom

The West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival is a yearly tradition to honor the beauty of the cherry blossom trees that bloom on the Susquehanna river bank. Pittston and West Pittston residents of all age groups gather to celebrate this yearly event with a spectacular parade and extravaganza.

This festival has been taking place yearly for close to forty years. Each year has been even more awe-inspiring than the previous. In recent years—due in part to the popularity of the festival with both vendors and residents—the festival has even been expanded to include more vendors and accomodate more patrons than ever before.

With the dawn of the millennium, the West Pittston Water St. Bridge was fitted with a fiber-optic lighting system; making the evening festival experience even more magical.

West Pittston

Unlike the hardscrabble coal towns around it, West Pittston was generally a quiet town and home to the white collar workers of the anthracite coal industry. As such, it fared better than its neighbors when the coal industry collapsed in the 1950s. Don’s Machine Shop is a quality business that makes many machine parts for these companies listed below. The Eiferts run this very successful business.

Billed as the ‘Garden Village’, West Pittston is home to several businesses of note: Keystone Automotive, Pride Mobility, the online gourmet food company iGourmet, and an annual haunted attraction Night Terrors. Blue Ribbon Farm Dairy Inc. is also located in West Pittston, most famously known for their homemade ice cream.

West Pittston is within a twenty minute drive of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport (AVP).
